Responsibilities

The Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) located in Newark, DE offers experienced phlebotomists and non-experienced individuals who want to join the healthcare field, the training needed to join our mobile team.

 

The Mobile Blood Collection Technicians receive assignments working a varied schedule to different mobile blood drives weekly at differing locations. Each schedule is provided 2 weeks in advance. We train individuals that are naturally welcoming and committed to carrying out our mission by providing excellent customer service to our donors.   • This position offers a 3-step career ladder for new employees until they develop and successfully demonstrate the skills to learn advanced blood collection procedures. This position is “essential” during severe weather or emergency operation events.
  • Conducts donor interviews in a confidential professional manner to determine donor eligibilities according to BBD standards.
  • Initiates whole blood collection/phlebotomy procedures and monitors the donor’s progress, according to BBD collection guidelines.
  • Prepares for donor interviews and blood collection by ensuring that interview materials and phlebotomy equipment and supplies are set up and/or operable in keeping with Quality Control standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of face-to-face customer service experience
  • Minimum of 1 years of successfully managing multiple tasks in a fast paced working environment
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Phlebotomy training is a plus, but not required
